Jazmine Simon grew up in the beauty industry—her mother is Vonda Simon, co-owner, SeaCliff Beauty—and got to see up close how beauty products are developed. Her interest in the industry took a new turn when, at 15, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, sometimes known as “juvenile diabetes,” a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. The diagnosis instilled in Jazmine Simon a desire to give something back. Thus was born Jazmine Beauty, a brand that gives a portion of proceeds to diabetes research work at UCI (University of California, Irvine) Health.

Simon and her mother collaborated with a branding company to design the brand’s logo and then set about developing its debut launch, the Lip Trio. The set comprises a liquid lipstick for all-day wear and two complimenting glosses for hydration and shine. The trio is available in nude, rose, coral and red shades, which can be used interchangeably, and comprises vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, plant oils and sun defense ingredients.

Since that launch nearly three years ago, Jazmine Beauty has added the Glow Getter Primer Serum (featuring acai, blueberry, cranberry, elderberry and goji berry extracts; vitamins A, B, C and E; and soft-focus pearls for a luminous finish), Life’s a Beach Skin Tint, Illuminating Highlighter Trio, Lip Lock Lipstick (which prevents dry-out by leveraging Seacliff Beauty’s BeautiLock Airtight packaging) and even a Compact Diabetic Case for stylishly transporting one’s glucose monitoring tools.

Customers have responded well to the brand’s clean profile and charitable giving, says Simon. She adds that the brand has allowed her to spread education on the nature and reality of diabetes.

Looking ahead, Simon notes that she’s always testing new product concepts with herself to ensure future launches meet Jazmine Beauty’s standards.
